Homework

Homework is issued in the Senior class weekly. It involves reading to yourself and with others, recalling your basic facts for maths, and a task that helps develop your key competencies, or knowledge.
As you are all busy people with sport, cultural,  and community activities you need to manage your time to get your homework completed during the week. Homework is expected to be handed in on Friday morning.

During Term 4, Homework will be a revision time. Everyone needs to be able to recall their multiplication basic facts quickly, be able to spell accurately all the essential list, and be reading daily.
Copies of these will be given to students at the beginning of term, and weekly check ups will be held in class from time to time during the week. The essential list is also on the writing page if you lose your copy.
To practice these, students can do the following-
  • Go to 'Studyladder' and practice in game format
  • write them down
  • use the knowledge to write sentences or solve problems
  • download some practise activities from the internet
  • use felts to write them in beautiful patterns
  • make them out of play dough (the letters, and numbers) This provides kinaesthetic learners with a visual concept.
With daily reading, please get mum or dad to listen for a while, and ask you questions. Make sure you are attempting chapter books with a story sequence, as this will increase your vocabulary, and skills for your own writing.

If you have these skills under control, go to the 'Reverse Report' (see home page) and try to cook something great from the recipes for your family.

You will find some great reading on this site as well, plus notes for mum and dad about apps that are ok for kids to use.
(Remember to scroll down on the Home page to find what you are looking for)
